Why blame the government for Team Anna’s mess???

Team Anna is in a mess. Its high profile members – most notably Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan – are in a mess. But the mess is one of their own making. Why blame the government? Take the case of Kiran Bedi. Her fudging of travel accounts was brought out by the Indian Express. It was this newspaper that front-paged details of the various trips that Kiran Bedi made and overcharged for. It was then the Times of India that actually spoke with some conference organizers and brought out their claim that Kiran Bedi had not informed them about her scheme at all. It was only after all of this came out that people like Digvijay Singh started commenting on her; demanding that she quit. It was she who defended herself like politicians do when they are caught – rather than accepting her mistake. It was she who did not offer to quit – while that’s what she demands from politicians all the time. She was double standards personified – and she has only herself to bl...

Vettel lifts cup at historic Indian GP

It’s always special the first time and the Indian GP at the Buddh international circuit was just as special. The Indian Grand Prix, an event many years in the making finally made history. And taking top honours in this momentous occasion was none other than the already double world champion Sebastian Vettel. The 24 year old German romped on to his 11th victory of the 2011 season. But it wasn’t easy for sure. As the lights went out Vettel sprinted to the lead at the start and worked very hard to build a field, which he then controlled as he led every lap. That left Webber squabbling with Button who had pulled a fast one on Webber at the very first corner. There was more action at the back as Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa added a little spice to proceedings by coming together for the fourth time this season. Further back, the chaos predicted for turn three arrived early as Rubens Barrichello clipped the back of Williams team-mate Pastor Maldonado and, in then having to move left...
